Since 1974, La Mesa Beautiful, Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, has been working as volunteers to support the advancement of horticulture for the betterment of the community.

La Mesa Beautiful, Inc. promotes various landscaping and horticultural activities.  We sponsor scholarships for horticultural students, conduct Arbor Day activities in the schools and give "Spirit Awards" to citizens and businesses with beautiful landscapes.

We are growing a garden community! Members  enjoy attending our quarterly Shrub Club meetings. We provide garden related topics, refreshments, hands-on workshops, share garden clippings, door prizes and more!

This month's program will be presented by Ben Kotnik, former Chairman of the California Rare Fruit Growers, community college instructor and landscape consultant. Ben will share his top tips for many of the fruit trees that grow in our region, organized by when each fruit ripens throughout the year. His plan will detail how to achieve year-round harvests of fruit at peak ripeness, nutritional value and flavor. There is no need to waste time and money with trial and error, come learn how to select and care for rare varieties and tried-and-true fruits which are appropriate for our diverse region.
