History of La Mesa Beautiful

La Mesa Beautiful was organized in 1974 and Incorporated in 1980.  The organization works collectively to preserve and increase the beauty of La Mesa.  By  encouraging and recognizing well-maintained residential and business landscapes, La Mesa Beautiful helps to enhance the image of La Mesa.

Working with La Mesa public officials, we focus on improving the landscapes of our parks, schools and streets.  We also introduce the importance of arboriculture to school children by supporting Arbor Week activities in schools.

La Mesa Beautiful promotes various landscaping and horticultural activities that bring recognition to our city.  La Mesa has been designated as "Tree City USA" by the National Arbor Day Foundation for thirty-four consecutive years- -the longest time for any city in the County of San Diego!

Note:  the La Mesa Beautiful logo features the La Mesa City flower, Bougainvillea 'Barbara Karst'
